Holds Roundtable at World Trade

Center Arkansas

United States Trade Representative Chief Agricultural Negotiator Gregg Doud visited the World Trade Center Arkansas on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 to hold a roundtable luncheon with officials and Arkansas businesses. Doud holds the rank of Ambassador and discussed top trade priorities and challenges with business leaders in the Arkansas poultry industry and answered questions from meeting participants.

“Ambassador Doud’s visit was very informative and helped many of us understand key issues in agriculture trade negotiations,” said Dan Hendrix, President and CEO from the World Trade Center Arkansas. “His first-hand account of the challenges the United States faces and the steps forward we have taken with other countries in our negotiations offered a unique perspective that can help shape our expectations.”

Doud’s talk covered topics like trade with China, trade barriers in Europe, opportunities in trade with Japan and the safety and quality of the food produced in the United States. The steel and aluminum tariffs and the United States Mexico and Canada Agreement were also points of discussion.

The mission of the World Trade Center Arkansas is to grow trade and increase Arkansas exports by connecting Arkansas businesses to the world through international trade services. The Center is part of the University of Arkansas and serves as the trade promotion arm for the Arkansas Economic Development Commission.
