Arkansas companies continue to make strides in international business and substantially increase exports. Businesses often face many challenges that potentially stall progress and growth of exporting: regulatory factors, the appreciation of the U.S. dollar, and Congress’ inactivity in regards to proposed Free Trade Agreements. Despite these hurdles, Arkansas businesses, such as Power Technology and Canvas Corp., have seen growth in their exporting activities and continue to set their sights on higher exporting rates. Christine Meier, founder of Canvas Corp., attributes this growth to the increased globalization of business. Business participation and promotion via social media has opened the door for companies to expand and grow business internationally.
