The 47th General Assembly of the World Trade Centers Association was held in Algiers, Algeria at the end of April. Over 70 World Trade Centers from around the globe came together for 4 days to share insights, expertise and enthusiasm.
Under the spirit theme of “Better Together, Growth through Community” the agenda included presentations, speed-networking business-to-business matchmaking and innovation exchange.
Boon Tan and Denise Thomas participated in the assembly and represented the World Trade Center Arkansas which is based at the University of Arkansas. Thomas shared current projects from the Africa trade desk and Tan spoke about the recent Cuba trade mission that WTC Arkansas organized in the fall of 2015. He also explained the developing strategy behind the industrial clusters that the Arkansas center is focusing on; aerospace, agriculture and poultry science, bio and nanotechnology.
For the World Trade Center teams that attended the annual assembly, they walked away with an understanding of the association’s new initiatives; value-added services, how to enhance and protect the brand, and how to strengthen the Association for the future.
