Complying with US Export Controls Seminar

The North American International Trade Association and the Alabama District Export Council invite you to join them for their 1 or 2 day seminar sessions that will look at US export control compliance.

NOV 5/6: BIS / EAR Seminar Tentative Agenda

The two-day program is led by BIS’s professional counseling staff and provides an in-depth examination of the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). The program will cover the information exporters need to know to comply with U.S. export control requirements on commercial goods, and other items subject to the EAR. We will focus on what items and activities are subject to the EAR; how to determine your export control classification number (ECCN); steps to take to determine the export licensing requirements for your item; when you can export or reexport without applying for a license; export clearance procedures and record keeping requirements; and guidance in applying this information. Presenters will conduct a number of “hands-on” exercises that will prepare you to apply the regulations to your own company’s export activities. This program is well suited for those who need a comprehensive understanding of their obligations under the EAR.

NOV 7: ITAR / DDTC Seminar Tentative Agenda

(Tentative description) This one-day seminar will present a fundamental overview of the U.S. International Traffic in Arms (ITAR), the U.S. regulatory and statutory framework and will provide insight and understanding of the key principals and essentials of ITAR compliance. Attendees will gain an understanding of how the ITAR impacts international business and how to avoid costly fines and penalties. Subjects covered in this training include: ITAR and USML (U.S. Munitions List), registration with the State Department, ITAR technical data controls, ITAR licenses, compliance and enforcement, the transition of hardware and technical data from the USML to the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and regulation of brokering activities.
