Open World delegation visits World Trade Center Arkansas

Dec. 12, 2016 – A delegation from Russia participating in the Open World Leadership Center’s exchange program visited the World Trade Center Arkansas Tuesday, Dec. 6. The delegation, consisting of six Russians with diverse backgrounds in the arts, academics and social and cultural development, is participating in the Open World post-Soviet exchange program.

The members sought to further social and urban development through the Open World program and met with Boon Tan, senior director of global trade for the World Trade Center Arkansas.

“We were privileged to meet with the delegation,” Tan said. “We reached out in hopes to learn more about their mission and we explored opportunities to establish trade and cultural exchange, as well as engage the University of Arkansas with other institutions of higher education in Russia.”

Topics of discussion involved evaluation of the World Trade Center Arkansas’ practices, the recruitment of clients, the relationship with the University of Arkansas as well as collaborative efforts with the University. Tan also briefed the delegation over the World Trade Center Arkansas’ mission and current activities.

Tan helped the delegation to arrange meetings with professionals from Tyson Foods and Sam’s Club. The delegation also visited with Arkansas leaders and professional organizations. The program was organized by Global Ties Arkansas, an organization that receives international officials and leaders in government, business, journalism and nonprofits.
